Overview

Engineering Manager (f/m/d) – Site Reliability Engineering at Forto. Manage a three-person platform engineering team focused on Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to enhance reliability and the developer experience. The production environment uses a modern stack including GCP, AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Helm, with internal self-service tools primarily written in Typescript and Go. The philosophy is “You build it, you run it.”

Responsibilities

Lead a highly skilled team of platform engineers
Develop a multi-year vision with incremental deliverables; adapt processes to changing business needs and ensure roadmap delivery
Establish high technical standards through processes and culture
Mentor and coach engineers to support fulfilling careers and cultivate leaders
Collaborate with engineering and product teams to improve developer experience and site reliability topics
Increase team autonomy by enabling Forto engineers to own security, reliability, and observability as non-functional requirements
Ensure roadmap delivery and align the team on the implementation path of product strategy while balancing building, maintaining, refactoring, scaling, and extending features
Design, plan, and deliver software and infrastructure to improve availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency

Required Skills And Experience

Progressively senior roles in deeply technical engineering with at least 4 years in a people leadership/managerial role; proven expertise in Platform Engineering
Ability to attract, hire, and coach world-class engineers; build trust and guide careers
Experience navigating and leading a team through challenging situations
Enjoy building an agile, blameless culture and an organization from scratch
Preference for iterative problem-solving over large upfront planning
Ability to drive cross-functional change
Solid understanding of cloud and platform technologies

Preferred Skills And Experience

Hands-on knowledge of GCP (preferred) or AWS, Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform
