Position

We are looking for a Field Service Engineer (m/f/d) to join our team. In this role you will perform maintenance and repair work on equipment at vessels of marine customers or power plants. The position requires willingness to travel extensively worldwide and stay abroad.

Responsibilities

  • May lead and manage assigned team and related activities during work execution.
  • Interact with customers during work execution (e.g., conducting introduction meetings).
  • Perform internal and external progress status updates of the assigned work.
  • Independently or with colleagues execute service activities and repairs for Wärtsilä products (4‑Stroke, 2‑Stroke, Propulsion, Insitu machining, Turbochargers, Automation) aboard vessels or land‑based power plants.
  • Execute activities in line with organisational processes to achieve desired time, cost and quality outcomes.
  • Represent Wärtsilä toward customers and the marine industry to achieve the highest customer satisfaction.
  • Provide feedback to earlier project execution phases — sales, design, engineering, purchasing and installation when needed.
  • Increase spare part sales through customer interaction and accurate field record‑keeping; maintain and promote Wärtsilä’s high safety standards.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive, or Mechatronics with hands‑on experience working with DF engines or other mechanical equipment.
  • Willingness to travel the world and contribute a positive mindset; ability to understand, use and interpret electrical and automation schematics and drawings.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English; German required. Dutch or Polish is an advantage.
  • Service and team oriented, structured, with good attention to detail and self‑motivation.
  • Familiar with WECS, UNIC C1/C2/C3, LCS, UCS and other control & automation systems.
