About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Offshore Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support our growing portfolio of offshore wind and energy infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment offshore, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and international regulations.
This is a freelance position suited for a German-based, German-speaking professional with proven offshore experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and oversee commissioning activities for high‑voltage and low‑voltage electrical systems (e.g., switchgear, transformers, protection relays, cables).
- Perform testing, fault finding, and documentation of commissioning procedures.
- Interface with onshore engineering, construction, and HSE teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Ensure all works are compliant with relevant standards (IEC, VDE, DNV, etc.) and site‑specific HSE requirements.
- Prepare and maintain accurate technical reports, punch lists, and commissioning documentation.
- Support troubleshooting and performance testing during energization and handover phases.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in offshore or industrial electrical commissioning roles.
- Valid offshore certifications (e.g., GWO, HUET, BOSIET).
- Strong understanding of offshore wind farm electrical systems (preferred).
- Fluent German and proficient English communication skills (both written and spoken).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multicultural offshore teams.
- EU work eligibility and availability for rotation‑based offshore assignments.
