Full Professor of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy (Salary Group W3)

at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. This is a full-time and permanent position planned to be filled by April 1, 2026.

Position Overview

We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible profile in research, teaching, and patient care. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, which encompasses all disciplines in psychology and psychotherapy and is associated with departments for child and adolescent mental health as well as psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy.

Qualifications and Experience

• Strong leadership profile with extensive research and departmental management experience.
• Skills in staff management and organizational leadership.
• Research collaboration and teaching involvement at the Faculty of Medicine, including programs in Medicine, Dentistry, Molecular Medicine, Medical Process Management, Midwifery Sciences, and Logopedics.
• Excellent academic record in research and teaching at international standards.
• Substantial research experience abroad or in international collaborations.
• Experience in managing research projects and securing third-party funding.
• University degree, outstanding doctoral degree, and postdoctoral qualifications (habilitation or equivalent).
• License to practice medicine in psychiatry and psychotherapy.
• Ability and willingness to teach in both English and German (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Leading the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy.
• Engaging in research networks and interdisciplinary collaborations.
• Teaching and mentoring students across various programs.
• Supporting early career researchers and driving the strategic agenda of FAU.
