General Responsibilities:

Provide engineering and consulting services for a broad array of projects and clients. This includes performing and leading field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations, designing plans and specifications, conducting observations and inspections, and preparing reports. Review drawings and construction to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. Prepare proposals and cost estimates, monitor project progress and budgets, and suggest modifications. Research and resolve design and construction challenges. Evaluate laboratory or field data for reports. Communicate complex engineering issues effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Services may be for projects in public works, transportation, commercial, communications, energy, or industrial sectors.

Location:

This position can be based in any of the following Terracon offices: Cedar Rapids, Cedar Falls, Bettendorf, or Des Moines.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

• Adhere to safety rules and participate in pre-task planning. Report safety issues.
• Prepare proposals and reports for projects of varying complexity under supervision.
• Plan and coordinate project phases with moderate complexity under supervision of a Professional Engineer.
• Maintain quality standards and collaborate with senior engineers for project management and engineering experience.
• Communicate with clients and project teams on project scope and progress.
• Evaluate laboratory and field data to make engineering and construction recommendations under supervision.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 0-3 years of experience.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification required.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
