Grid Development Engineer - BESS and Solar

About the role

Leap29 is working with a client seeking an experienced Grid Development Engineer to support their growing portfolio of utility-scale solar PV and BESS projects through all stages of grid connection, from early feasibility to commissioning. The client is a UK-based company that is active across Germany, Europe and the United States.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and development of grid connection solutions for large-scale solar and BESS projects across Germany
• Grid connection feasibility studies, load flow and fault level analysis using tools such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS®E, or similar
• Liaise with Transmission System Operators and Distribution System Operators to secure and manage grid connections in compliance with national regulations
• Provide technical support in permitting, grid compliance, and due diligence processes
• Support project development teams with grid-related inputs and risk assessments

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in grid connection of renewable energy projects (ideally PV and/or BESS)
• Strong understanding of German grid connection standards and regulations
• Proficiency in grid simulation tools (DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS®E, PSCAD, etc.)
• Fluent English and German
• Proactive, structured, and solution-oriented with a collaborative mindset
