Leipzig Zoo is one of the oldest and most species-rich zoos in the world. Over 1.7 million guests visit us every year. This makes us the most visited cultural and leisure facility in central Germany. The zoo combines a concept of species-appropriate animal husbandry, species protection, education and exciting discovery tours. For our construction and operational maintenance department, we are looking for a

Head of IT (m / f / d)

The position is initially limited to 2 years and is offered full-time. An indefinite extension is being sought. As Head of IT, you will be responsible for the personnel management of a total of 6 employees in the areas of IT administration and media and event technology. The most important objectives of this position include managing the IT infrastructure and IT security.

Your tasks will include in particular

• Strategic and operational management of the IT division
• Responsibility for the IT infrastructure and IT security
• Further development of the IT and digitalization strategy
• Management and prioritization of IT projects
• Interface function to other areas, in particular operational technology as well as other specialist departments and management
• Analyzing existing processes, identifying potential for improvement, developing new processes and supporting their implementation
• Management of IT security, IT systems and data, including the implementation of security guidelines and monitoring of security risks
• Responsibility for managing the IT budget and resources in coordination with the next highest management level
• Managing external service providers and partners
• Technical and organizational management and development of the division
• Promotion of a motivated and high-performing team culture

You should have the following knowledge and skills :

• Successfully completed studies in the field of computer science, business informatics or a comparable course of study,
• several years of relevant professional experience in the field of IT as well as management experience,
• good knowledge of IT security,
• in-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, networks and cloud technologies,
• experience in project and change management,
• strong analytical and strategic skills, strong decision-making, communication skills and persuasiveness,
• high level of initiative and sense of responsibility,
• enjoy leading teams and developing employees,
• very good knowledge of German and good knowledge of English.
