Head of Logistics (m/f/d)

We are looking for a Head of Logistics (m/f/d) to strengthen our team at the location in Hamburg.

We, TER Chemicals, are a family‑run trading company for raw materials, specialty chemicals and food additives that has been operating successfully internationally for more than 100 years. Key responsibilities:

• Development and implementation of a holistic European logistics concept, aligned with the company's strategic objectives
• Development of individual logistics concepts in collaboration with major key accounts and key suppliers
• Identification and implementation of digitalization and automation potential within logistics processes
• Analyzing and optimizing the flow of goods within Europe and our EU imports with a focus on efficiency, cost reduction and sustainability
• Establishment and further development of reporting tools for transparent, ad‑hoc monitoring and analysis of costs in collaboration with the Controlling department
• Proactive control and root cause analysis of cost deviations
• Regular evaluation and further development of warehouse and distribution structures in terms of geographical location, capacity utilisation, service level and cost structure
• Development of additional value‑added services and service concepts for further business development
• Assuming disciplinary and technical leadership of the German team and further developing the international team in the national companies

Your Profil:

• Degree in logistics, supply chain management, industrial engineering or a comparable qualification
• Several years of professional experience in international logistics or supply chain management, ideally in a European environment
• Sound knowledge of transport logistics (land, sea, air), warehouse logistics and freight or tender management
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills as well as a structured, proactive approach. Experience in tender management is a plus
• Experience in managing complex logistics networks and in working with external service providers
• Good SAP and MS Office skills

• An empathic leadership style
• Fluency in both written and spoken German and English, other languages are an advantage
• High intercultural competence, which goes hand in hand with strong communication and assertiveness, especially in international, intercultural teams
• Willingness to travel within Europe - flexible and self‑reliant in terms of the role
