Head of Software Engineering – Medical Devices

Location: Munich, Germany – on-site with the option of 40% home working. This is a full-time permanent role.

To be considered for this position:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in medical device software development
• Strong leadership or team lead experience in a regulated environment
• Proficient in C++/C#, Python, or embedded systems development
• In-depth knowledge of IEC 62304, ISO 13485, and related medical standards
• Fluent in English (German is a strong plus)
• Experience with cloud integration (Azure/AWS)
• Familiarity with cybersecurity in medical applications
• Experience in agile methodologies and DevOps pipelines

Responsibilities & Requirements:

• Lead a multidisciplinary team of software engineers working on class II/III medical devices
• Drive software architecture, design, and verification activities across the product lifecycle
• Ensure compliance with international medical device regulations and standards
• Collaborate with systems engineering, quality assurance, and regulatory teams
• Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement of software processes
• Mentor junior developers and foster a culture of quality and innovation
