Social Media Manager – Germany

Location: Berlin, Germany

Salary: €75,000 – €95,000 + comprehensive benefits

A leading global digital bank is seeking an experienced Social Media Manager to build and run its organic social media presence in Germany. This is a newly created and senior role, ideal for someone who thrives in a start-up-style environment within a global, highly regulated financial services organisation.

The Role

The Social Media Manager will define, launch, and optimise the company’s social media strategy for the German market, ensuring it supports business and marketing objectives, drives brand awareness, and reflects the organisation’s positioning as a bank built in and for Germany.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the German social media strategy (organic-first), aligned with marketing and commercial goals.
  • Plan and manage content across key channels including Instagram and Facebook, with activity extending to LinkedIn and other emerging platforms as appropriate.
  • Establish and manage community engagement processes in collaboration with central and local marketing teams.
  • Use social listening tools (e.g., Sprinklr) to monitor brand sentiment, competitor activity, and relevant conversations, providing actionable insights to leadership.
  • Report on campaign and always-on performance, identifying opportunities for optimisation and growth.
  • Partner with creative, copy, and agency teams to brief, localise, and approve content.
  • Ensure all social activity complies with relevant regulatory and governance requirements.
  • Act as the local social media subject-matter expert, advising marketing and product teams on social insights and audience engagement.
  • Lay the groundwork for future team growth, establishing scalable processes, tooling, and agency relationships.

Candidate Profile

  • 5–10 years’ experience in social media, digital, or brand marketing, with a strong focus on organic content.
  • Proven experience building or significantly scaling a social media presence for a brand in Germany.
  • Experience within a regulated industry (financial services, fintech, insurance, or similar) is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical mindset, able to turn performance data into actionable insights.
  • Hands-on, proactive, and comfortable operating in a start-up environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating across international teams.
  • Native or fluent German language skills, plus strong written and spoken English.
