What To Expect

The Homologation Engineer – EMEA will ensure Tesla's battery packs & cells meet regulatory and compliance standards in European and international markets. This role involves managing certification processes, monitoring regulatory developments, and providing insights to internal teams. The candidate will liaise with European regulatory bodies and headquarters to stay ahead of evolving standards.

What You'll Do

1. Certification & Compliance: Coordinate EU certification processes for battery packs, ensuring compliance with UNECE R100, Article 10, UN38.3, and other standards. Manage documentation and submission of certification reports.
2. Regulatory Monitoring, Reporting and Testing: Track European regulatory changes affecting vehicle attributes, analyze their impact, and report findings. Collaborate with test houses to complete certifications timely.
3. Stakeholder Engagement: Participate in international regulatory forums, represent Tesla’s interests, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
4. Cross-functional Support: Guide product development to align with current and future regulations.
5. Travel & Representation: Travel domestically and internationally to support homologation activities and regulatory discussions.

What You'll Bring

• Engineering or related technical degree with at least 2 years of experience in automotive homologation, especially EU type approval activities.
• Experience in homologation, battery certification, and compliance is essential.
• Deep understanding of UNECE R100, EU 2023/1542 (Article 10), UN38.3, and related regulations.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, especially with authorities.
• Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Knowledge of international regulatory frameworks affecting battery technology.
• Willingness to travel domestically and globally; strong analytical skills.
