Overview

Fairtrade International is an independent non-profit organisation representing more than two million small-scale farmers and workers worldwide. It owns the FAIRTRADE Mark, a registered trademark that appears on more than 37,000 products. The IT Officer supports the IT team with administrative tasks and user support to help FI users work effectively with IT tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative, organizational, logistical, and other services to assist the IT Unit’s work.
• Provide first-level IT support and assist users in the effective use of existing applications.
• Manage and administer Microsoft 365 environment; configure and troubleshoot SharePoint, Teams, Exchange, and OneDrive.
• Train and support users in the Microsoft Office 365 suite.
• Be an enabler of IT solutions for the user base; monitor performance of M365 systems and perform routine maintenance.
• Assist users in identifying IT applications that meet their needs and evaluate alternatives when needed; ensure IT applications comply with framework agreements.
• Support on-site and remote user assistance (telephone and ticketing tools); assist the ICT-Manager with user administration, support, and server maintenance.
• Set up, change, and relocate computer workstations and peripherals; support FI telephone and smartphone users.
• Prepare and maintain IT documentation and training materials; stay updated on the latest updates, features, and security best practices.
• Perform additional duties consistent with skills and expertise as required.

Skills and Competencies

Education : University or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Knowledge / Job Specific Competencies:

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience with Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive), and Azure Active Directory; Microsoft Azure experience (E).
• Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, PC hardware, networking (TCP/IP), printers, and related IT support tasks (E).
• Knowledge of Linux (Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS) (E).
• Fluency in German and English; any other language is an advantage (E).
• Problem-solving mentality; service-oriented and solution-focused (E).
• Ability to work to tight deadlines in a challenging environment; strong organizational and prioritization skills (E).
• Excellent written and verbal communication; highly collaborative in IT support (E).

Personal Qualities:

• Willingness to learn new applications and practices to help users.
• Service-oriented, outgoing, and friendly; patient under pressure.

Terms and Conditions

• This is a full-time position (38.5 hours per week) within Fairtrade International.
• Location: Bonn, Germany; hybrid work arrangements may be available.
• Office language: English.
• Salary as per the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Wholesale and Foreign Trade Industries (Group V and above) in North Rhine-Westphalia.
• Holiday allowance and 13th salary; 30 days of holidays per year (full-time).
• Subsidised public transportation ticket and subsidised meal services; childcare cost subsidy.
