Your Mission
You ensure that the hospital's central IT and server infrastructure runs reliably at all times and that IT failures are quickly rectified. In doing so, you make a decisive contribution to secure and stable operations – even behind the scenes. In the event of an emergency, your professional backup and recovery management will ensure that the hospital is up and running again as quickly as possible.
Your Contribution
- You are responsible for the planning, implementation and maintenance of our backup strategies, including image, file, snapshot and replication-based concepts
- You manage and operate VMware vSphere environments, including installation, configuration, patching and lifecycle management
- You look after SAN and NAS storage systems and ensure their stable availability
- You administer relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Database and carry out performance tuning
- You set up file systems and data backup solutions and maintain them permanently
- You monitor and analyze system and storage performance with the help of monitoring tools
- You create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks and emergency plans
- You work closely with network, security and application teams to ensure the highest possible availability
- You participate in IT projects and migrations, for example storage upgrades or database consolidations
- You ensure continuous system availability with your participation in the on-call service
Your Profile
- Completed studies (e.g. computer science, business informatics) or comparable vocational training in the IT sector
- At least 3-5 years of professional experience as a system administrator (m/f/d) with the aforementioned focus areas
- Sound knowledge of backup and recovery solutions (e.g. Veeam)
- Certifications such as VMware VCP, NetApp/HPE Storage Administration or corresponding certificates from storage manufacturers are an advantage
- In‑depth experience with Microsoft SQL Server (administration, high availability, replication) and Oracle Database
- Experienced with storage file systems (e.g. NFS, CIFS/SMB, VMFS) and SAN technologies
- Good knowledge of network basics (TCP/IP, VLAN, iSCSI) and script automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
- Analytical mindset, ability to work independently and high level of commitment
- Very good German language skills and a desire to work in a team

Remuneration: You can expect a performance‑related salary depending on the tasks assigned and fulfillment of the personal requirements up to pay grade E 11 according to the in‑house collective agreement of the University Hospital Magdeburg A.ö.R.
Staffing: The position is to be filled from , full‑time (38.5 hrs/week) and for an indefinite period.
