Join the Junior PHP-Entwickler:in (w/m/d) role at Biallo & Team GmbH . You have already gathered initial experience in PHP development and want to deepen your skills in real projects. In our development team you will learn modern tools and frameworks, take on responsibilities and grow together with us. Your location is not decisive, the position is fully remote – home office is the default.

About the company: Biallo & Team GmbH runs the leading online magazine for private finance, biallo.de, since 2001. We develop B2C financial products and services, support banks and lenders with data‑driven insights, campaign management, social media, market studies and editorial content. Our unique "biallo insights" database contains the largest collection of German banks and financial institutions, providing proven market data for readers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain modern web applications with PHP frameworks such as Laravel and Symfony.
  • Learn and work with the architecture and workflows of NEOS CMS and its Flow framework.
  • Take on development tasks for NEOS‑based websites.
  • Implement and optimise REST APIs and authentication solutions.
  • Systematically debug and fix bugs in existing applications.
  • Handle complex cross‑layer troubleshooting.
  • Participate in database migrations and the evolution of database structures.
  • Develop and maintain CRUD functionalities and user interfaces.
  • Create and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, end‑to‑end).
  • Actively participate in the git‑based development process (branching, pull requests, code reviews).
  • Work closely with the Lead Developer and be fully integrated into project planning and development.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of professional PHP experience or comparable experience from personal/Open‑source projects.
  • Proficient with modern PHP (7.4+/8.x) and OOP concepts.
  • Hands‑on experience with at least one PHP framework (Laravel or Symfony).
  • Basic understanding of complex CMS systems and willingness to learn NEOS CMS.
  • Experience with Composer and dependency management.
  • Knowledge of SOLID principles and clean code.
  • Strong analytical debugging skills.
  • Experience with logging systems and debugging tools.
  • Experience in various testing methods (PHPUnit, Behat, etc.).
  • Familiar with Git workflows (feature branches, pull requests).
  • Basic front‑end skills (JavaScript, npm/yarn, Webpack/Vite).
  • Solid MySQL knowledge with relational database modeling.
  • Self‑driven, structured and solution‑oriented work style.
  • Continuous motivation for personal development.
  • Very good German language skills (minimum B2 level).

Additional Strengths

  • Experience with NEOS CMS or other enterprise CMS platforms.
  • Understanding of MVC architecture and dependency injection concepts used in Flow.
  • Experience in diagnosing complex application stacks.
  • Knowledge of profiling and performance‑analysis tools.
  • Interest in open‑source contributions and reusable package development.
  • API design and implementation knowledge.
  • Cache strategies and performance optimisation.
  • Continuous integration / continuous deployment experience.
  • Data migration and ETL processes.
  • Familiarity with static code analysis and quality assurance.
