Description

We have a working Docker Compose deployment with multiple services:
Mosquitto (MQTT broker)
PostgreSQL
RabbitMQ
SQL Server
Nginx / API services
Worker Services

This setup runs fine in Docker, but we now need to migrate it to Kubernetes (K3s on Ubuntu 24.04) in a production-ready, scalable way. The manifests should also be portable to cloud providers (Azure AKS, AWS EKS, GCP GKE) with minimal changes (mainly storage/ingress).


Scope of Work

The selected freelancer will:
• Convert existing Docker Compose files → Kubernetes manifests (Deployments, StatefulSets, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, PVCs).
• Configure persistent storage for databases and message brokers.
• Implement secrets management (from our existing .env files).
• Expose public services through a LoadBalancer service (works on K3s with MetalLB, and cloud LBs in AKS/EKS/GKE).
• Set up Horizontal Pod Autoscalers (HPA) for APIs and event/workflow processors.
• Ensure networking & ingress are cloud-portable.
• Deliver deployment documentation + guide for both K3s and cloud migration.



Requirements


• Proven experience migrating Docker Compose → Kubernetes.
• Hands-on with K3s and cloud-managed Kubernetes (AKS/EKS/GKE).
• Strong understanding of stateful workloads (Postgres, RabbitMQ, SQL Server) on Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of LoadBalancer services, Ingress controllers, scaling (HPA).
• Deliver within 1 week.



Deliverables


• Kubernetes YAML manifests (organized, modular, cloud-portable).
• Secrets and config setup based on provided .env files.
• Documentation for deployment & scaling.
• Verified working deployment on our K3s server.
