Overview

For our customer in the Space industry located in the Munich area, we are looking for an L1 Maintenance Engineer to work with the operational service for Galileo, the European Union’s global satellite navigation system.

Responsibilities

  • Execution of L1 Maintenance related trainings to obtain the necessary qualification level for discrete provision of the L1 services in the GCCD, including ramp-up for on-call services (outside nominal working hours) on GMS/NET infrastructure.
  • Support of the existing Level-1 maintenance team to plan, execute and document maintenance activities on standard ITC infrastructure.
  • Conduct selected Level-1 maintenance procedures related to preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, including:
  • Execution of Level-1 hardware related procedures (e.g., monitoring status, hardware exchange and supporting tasks based on relevant maintenance manuals).
  • Execution of Level-1 software related procedures (e.g., monitoring status, simple software preventive procedures, preparatory software configuration tasks).
  • Monitoring of maintenance tickets, updating tickets/status and follow-up tasks in line with the evolution of the L1 maintenance intervention.
  • Handling incidents, other emergencies and unplanned problems in line with the GSOp Service Management Processes based on related GCCD L1 maintenance tickets.
  • Ensuring the correct execution, recording and triggering of follow-up tasks needed to resolve underlying issues in line with the GSOp ILS Plan, including follow-up tasks with L2/L3 Maintenance teams.
  • Supporting the review, analysis and update of maintenance documentation and Level-1 maintenance procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate records in associated databases (e.g., SDT, CMAT, shared drives) and technical documentation related to L1 maintenance tasks.
  • Reviewing data packages from GSOp internal and GSOp external stakeholders, issuing technical-managerial documentation on the L1 maintenance perimeter.
  • Acting as point of contact for the ILS Support Desk for status monitoring of local maintenance tasks (preventive, corrective, evolutive).
  • Supporting the development/review of the annual preventive maintenance plan applicable for the GCCD assets.
  • Supporting the processing/implementation of changes/upgrades in the frame of L1 Request Tickets.
  • Contributing to GSOp project deliverables and reporting.

Required Skills

Necessary experience, education and technical knowledge especially include:

Mandatory:

  • Server/Workstations (mainly HP), Firewalls, Switches, Media Converter etc.
  • UNIX and WINDOWS based operating systems, Linux command line and WINDOWS administration tasks.
  • Experience in trouble-shooting tasks and procedure-based maintenance activities on HW/SW systems.
  • Qualified IT specialist (e.g., Informatiker, IT Engineer, Fachinformatiker, Wirtschaftsinformatiker, IT-Systemelektroniker, Elektroniker für Informations- und Systemtechnik, Computer Science Expert etc.).
  • Primary language in the Galileo program is English; all communication (verbal and written) is in English, in addition German language skills are beneficial.
  • EU citizenship is necessary, security clearance up to confidential (Ü2).

Desirable:

  • Familiar with ITIL processes and related software tools to process incident tickets and planned maintenance tickets, including proper documentation of executed tasks in centralized tools.
  • Used to working in a complex and international environment.
  • Good interpersonal liaising and communication skills with a strong emphasis on teamwork.
  • Hands-on mentality and systematic, self-organized, able to prioritize the way of working.

This is a full-time position , located at the customer site in Munich, Germany .
