Job Summary

Join our pioneering team as the Lead Backend & Cloud Engineer (Quantum SaaS) and become the technical owner of our transformative SaaS platform. You will drive the architecture, development, and scaling of secure cloud infrastructure to power our quantum simulation engine, enabling breakthroughs for B2B clients in biopharma and defense. Key Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, and scalability of our SaaS platform’s backend and cloud infrastructure.
• Architect robust, secure, and high-performance systems on Hetzner and/or GCP, ensuring compliance with critical security standards.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows to ensure seamless, high-quality releases.
• Collaborate closely with the CEO and interdisciplinary team to translate business vision into technical execution.
• Build APIs and backend services to deliver quantum computing capabilities to enterprise customers.
• Implement state-of-the-art cybersecurity measures, with a focus on NATO/Defense-grade standards.
• Mentor and guide fellow engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Expert-level proficiency in Python for backend and systems development.
• Demonstrated experience architecting and scaling cloud infrastructure (Hetzner and/or Google Cloud Platform).
• Proven ability to design secure, production-grade SaaS platforms.
• Deep knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD practices, and modern cloud automation.
• Strong background in API design and service-oriented architectures.
• Commitment to robust cybersecurity, with hands-on understanding of industry best practices.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on clear, compelling documentation and teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NATO, defense, or similarly stringent cybersecurity standards.
• Prior work on quantum, simulation, or high-performance computing platforms.
• Based in Berlin or able to travel periodically for in-person strategy sessions.
