Immediate Start- Lead Backend Freelancer-B2B Contract- 24 Months Initial(with extensions)- Competitive Rate As a Lead Backend Engineer, you’ll define the technical foundation, set engineering standards, and mentor a high-performing team to deliver scalable, high-impact systems. What You’ll Do: Short-term (0–3 months): Technical Mastery & ImpactImmerse yourself in our stack and contribute production-ready, high-quality code.Lead by example — champion testing discipline, reliability, and continuous improvement.Collaborate cross-functionally with frontend, data, and product teams to bring ML-driven features to life.Mid-term (3–6 months): Ownership, Mentorship & ArchitectureTake end-to-end ownership of core backend systems as the platform scales.Mentor engineers through reviews, technical sessions, and collaborative problem-solving.Promote best practices in security, scalability, and performance.Design and maintain RESTful APIs and real-time communication layers using WebSockets.Partner with leadership to align product vision and technical strategy.Long-term (6–12 months): Vision, Strategy & Team LeadershipDefine and evolve backend architecture to meet long-term product goals.Establish and uphold standards for code quality, documentation, and process excellence.Support team growth through hiring, onboarding, and career development.Collaborate with other technical leads to ensure a cohesive, scalable architecture.Advocate for innovation, automation, and engineering excellence across the organization.What You BringExperience: 7+ years of backend development experience. Proven record of leading projects, mentoring teams, and making sound architectural decisions.Frameworks: Deep experience building scalable microservices with FastAPI, Flask, or similar frameworks. Strong background in testing (e.g., pytest), automation, and code quality assurance.Technical Skills: Proficient in CI/CD pipelines, cloud environments (ideally Azure or similar), and Kubernetes deployments. Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, or integrating machine learning workflows is a strong plus.Leadership: Exceptional communication and collaboration skills. You thrive in cross-functional teams, mentor others effectively, and align engineering efforts with broader business objectives.
