Lead Software Developer (m/w/d) – Modernization & Delivery

Position : Lead Software Developer in a full-time or part-time role, starting . The position is based in Germany with the possibility of remote work nationwide.

Role Overview

Software development is the core focus. Together with a talented team you build innovative web and mobile applications for our mid-market customers. You will work in a mix of remote and on-site teams using Scrum and a broad tech stack, continuously learning and growing.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Delivery Responsibility

• Take technical responsibility in modernization and cloud projects together with architects and product owners.
• Ensure clean architecture decisions and evolve solutions when requirements change.
• Maintain code quality, testability and structure, keeping projects technically on course.

Development

• Actively develop from refactorings to new features, integrations and cloud components.
• Support the team through code reviews, pair programming, and technical sparring; contribute to CI/CD and IaC.
• Take technical responsibility in projects, ensure quality and implement clean solutions with the team.

Modernization & Migration

• Support data migrations from planning to technical implementation and validation.
• Plan necessary changes when shifting between database technologies.
• Apply proven patterns such as Strangler Pattern for stepwise modernization.

Technical Collaboration & Customer Contact

• Expertise in PHP/Symfony and at least one modern backend stack (Node.js/Next.js, .NET, Spring Boot).
• Translate technical concepts into actionable tasks; coordinate directly with customers.
• Propose improvements for quality, maintainability and sustainable development.

Requirements

• Several years as Senior Software Developer or technical project manager with active development experience.
• Strong knowledge of at least two modern backend stacks.
• Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Leadership experience steering project teams focused on code quality and delivery.
• Understanding of software architectures and modernization patterns.
• Experience with data migrations and interest in evolving existing systems.
• Enjoy direct communication with customers and interdisciplinary teams.
• German at C1 level or higher for project communication.
