Lead Software Engineer – Remote (Spain or Ireland)

Now, they’re looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer to join their backend engineering team and play a pivotal role in scaling their platform to the next level.


The Opportunity

You’ll guide architecture and strategy across a serverless AWS infrastructure, lead a team of engineers, and remain hands-on with complex technical challenges. Key Responsibilities


• Define and drive technical direction for scalable backend systems (AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, SNS).
• Mentor and lead a team of engineers, supporting both technical and career growth.
• Translate product requirements into robust, well-architected solutions.
• Establish coding standards and best practices across the engineering function.
• Lead design reviews, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making.
• Oversee code quality, CI/CD pipelines, and system monitoring.
• Manage incident response and implement long-term fixes for production issues.
• Promote documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
• Explore and adopt new tools/technologies to enhance performance and efficiency.


What We’re Looking For


• 8+ years of professional software development, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership role.
• Strong expertise in Node.js and Python, with a deep understanding of asynchronous programming.
• Proven track record designing and implementing AWS serverless solutions.
• Strong background in database design (SQL and NoSQL).
• Experience with CI/CD, testing strategies, and deployment automation.
• Skilled communicator, able to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable leading teams in an Agile environment and guiding sprint planning.


Desirable Experience


• AWS security best practices and infrastructure as code.
• Microservices, multi-language systems, or C#.
• Scaling consumer-facing applications and performance optimization.
• Networking concepts, CDN optimization, and efficient link routing.
• Real-time analytics or large-scale data pipelines.
• Experience scaling teams and contributing to hiring processes.
• SaaS and multi-tenant platform architecture.
