Overview:

I am looking for legal advice and coaching in the context of establishing a new publishing business in Germany.



Company Details:

The company will be registered as a German GmbH in about 4 weeks (handled by a local attorney – no support needed here).

Our products will primarily be printed cheat sheets and PDF downloads (study cards, reference sheets, leporellos), sold both in Germany and internationally.



Requirements:

What I need is legal consultation on the questions I am not yet aware of. In other words: I would like you to guide me through the legal aspects I should be considering as a publisher.

Topics may include (but are not limited to):
• ISBN numbers – what to consider when assigning and using them
• Copyright © – how best to protect my products internationally
• Use of color schemes – when and how they are protected under copyright or trademark law
• Authorship requirements – must every work with an ISBN have an author? Can I publish learning sheets without naming an author (e.g., team product, AI-assisted work, or authored by myself)?
• Any other legal questions I should be asking at this stage



Coaching Session:

I imagine a 1–2 hour coaching call via Zoom, where you walk me through these points and highlight other risks or requirements I may not be aware of.



Goal:

The goal is to prepare an upcoming appointment with a German lawyer, so that meeting can be as focused and efficient as possible.
