Legal Counsel

We are now looking forward to the right person to join our international legal team as a permanent role in our Hamburg office for the Business Area Markets, Staff Function Legal & CEO Office .

Key Responsibilities

• Developing agreements and structures to meet the challenges of the energy transition (e.g. battery energy storage systems (BESS)) in close collaboration with the business.
• Drafting and reviewing master trading documentation and bespoke agreements for commodity and allowances/certificates trading and related documentation including credit support documents, NDAs, exclusivity agreements, etc.
• Participating in projects/working groups providing strategic legal advice to the organization.
• Staying up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations that may impact the business.
• Instructing and working with external counsel.

Qualifications

• German law degree with excellent qualification.
• 3+ years of experience in energy related commercial/contract law and/or financial trading law – preferably gained in a reputable law firm, legal department of an international (trading) company or bank.
• Excellent command of the English and German language (written & spoken).
• Strong analytical capabilities, highly self‑motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
