Legal Counsel (m/f/d)

Job Description

We’re looking for a qualified Legal Counsel (Rechtsanwalt/Rechtsanwältin) with expertise in commercial law—particularly contracts, licensing, and subscription models—and with interest or experience in corporate law. You’ll act as a strategic legal advisor to the business and manage legal topics across all entities, supporting our international growth and ensuring compliance.This role can be a fit if you’re comfortable working independently on complex legal matters, while contributing to a cohesive legal function in a small team. A key focus of your role will be supporting Sales in drafting, negotiating, and reviewing customer contracts, ensuring commercial objectives and legal requirements are aligned.

Your role and goals

Within your first 3 months, you will:
Gain a deep understanding of our platform, product, and use cases
Build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders such as Sales, Finance, Operations and external counsels to ensure contracts meet both legal and business needs
Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, service-level agreements, partnership agreements, as well as corporate documentations
Understand our commercial processes including pricing and renewals
Learn the structure of all legal entities and jurisdictions we operate in

Within your first 6 months and beyond, you will:
Provide pragmatic independent legal advice to the management board and senior leadership to support commercial decision-making while managing legal risk.
Act as a legal partner to the Sales team, supporting contract negotiations and process improvements
Assist in the development and improvement of contract templates, playbooks, and legal processes to ensure efficiency and consistency
Collaborate with Sales and Revenue Operations to automate and optimize our contract and subscription workflows
Support corporate initiatives such as entity management, and governance planning for 2025/2026
Ensure compliance with with applicable laws and regulations, especially related to GDPR, commercial, and corporate law across our operations and markets
Collaborate with external counsel where necessary and manage legal documentation storage and version control
Stay up-to-date on legal and regulatory developments affecting the eCommerce industry
Coordinate legal strategy and activities in potential dispute mitigation and pre-litigation matters

What you bring to the team:

• Fully qualified lawyer in Germany (Volljurist*in, completed Staatsexamen)
• 3+years of post-qualification experience, ideally gained in-house within a tech, eCommerce, or digital company, or from a law firm with a strong commercial contracts practice
• Solid understanding of contract law, commercial negotiation, and legal risk assessment, especially in subscription, licensing, and distribution contracts
• Proven experience collaborating with Sales or Revenue teams on contract negotiations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and German are required
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, self-driven, and comfortable taking ownership
• A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and a keen interest in the evolving legal landscape in eCommerce, digital law, or tech-driven industries
