LifeSaver Simulation Specialist (d/f/m)

Overview

LifeSaver Simulation Specialist (d/f/m) – Airbus Helicopters. Location: Donauwörth, Germany. You will join a project to develop comprehensive simulation technology for LifeSaver, a strategic initiative to empower governments to enhance emergency response systems (ground and air).

Responsibilities

• Build a first-class simulation environment for a digital twin of complex and multi-modal emergency response operations at the scale of a country or region. This includes setting up the technical infrastructure, selecting suitable frameworks, prototyping, and seamless integration with LifeSaver\'s overall solution architecture.
• Develop agent-based simulations for a broad range of scenarios, such as optimizing use of future aircraft in different environments and strategies for effective disaster relief.
• Work closely with external stakeholders (emergency response professionals) to understand real-world emergency medical operations and inform accurate simulations.
• Coordinate external software development teams in Europe in close collaboration with the LifeSaver product manager and external team lead; potentially coordinate remote teams and experts at other Airbus locations worldwide.
• Contribute to R&D and innovation programmes.

Your offer / Qualifications

• Master degree in computer science or a similar field.
• At least 5+ years of practical experience with agent-based simulation, traffic and network modeling, and simulation frameworks (e.g. Matsim, DLR Sumo).
• Solid experience in defining software architecture and selecting technology stacks to meet functional and non-functional requirements (scalability, security, performance, maintainability).
• Very good knowledge of Java or Python; additional experience with C# (.NET), Go, or Elixir is a plus.
• Experience with SQL, Docker, Git, Shell scripting, and Jupyter notebooks.
• Experience with high-performance 2D/3D frontend visualization frameworks (e.g., vis.gl) is a plus; good knowledge of GIS, PostGIS, and mapping technologies.

• Well-organised, autonomous, startup-minded; excellent written and spoken English; German is a plus.
