Mechanical Design Engineer

TYTAN is a young deep-tech defense startup that develops a cost-effective counter-drone solution to protect people and critical infrastructure. We are an international team of ambitious engineers who combine expertise in autonomous systems and UAV design.

We are looking for a new team member who is eager to make a real difference! As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will drive the evolution of groundbreaking ideas into scalable, high-impact solutions for real-world challenges.

Your roadmap to make an impact:

1. Design and model new parts or refine existing designs based on requirements and performance objectives.
2. Contribute innovative ideas to the development of new UAV systems.
3. Develop and validate designs using additive manufacturing techniques.
4. Manage supplier relationships and coordinate component procurement.
5. Lead cross-functional design reviews, incorporating time-sensitive feedback from manufacturing and flight testing teams, and our mission partners.
6. Take full ownership of projects, managing them from initial concept through production.
7. Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing design processes, implementing best practices, and measuring impact.

Who you are:

1. Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 1+ years of relevant work experience.
2. Strong proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software.
3. Solid understanding of mechanical principles for designing structural components.
4. Hands-on experience with UAVs, including both fixed-wing and rotary-wing platforms.
5. Familiarity with additive manufacturing processes and materials; injection molding and metal design knowledge is a plus.
6. Balances creative, out-of-the-box thinking with practical, long-term solutions to address both immediate and future needs.
7. Proactive problem solver with strong attention to detail.
8. Highly self-organized, with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
9. Entrepreneurial mindset and hands-on mentality with solid multitasking and self-organization abilities.
10. Excellent communication and coordination skills.
11. Proficiency in English. German knowledge is beneficial.
