Mechanical Commissioning Lead | Major Capital Programme

ENG Bauen is supporting the delivery of a major industrial investment programme in Western Germany, focused on advanced processing and next-generation materials technologies.

We are seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Lead to join the project execution team during the transition from late construction into commissioning, start-up, and operational readiness.

This is a key role within the commissioning organisation, responsible for ensuring all mechanical systems are safely commissioned, validated, and handed over to operations. The successful candidate will bring strong experience in heavy industrial projects and demonstrate the ability to manage multi-discipline interfaces, vendors, and construction partners.

The position offers a long-term contract running through 2027 and represents an excellent opportunity to play a central role in one of Europe’s most advanced capital programmes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the execution of mechanical commissioning activities across utility, process, and support systems
• Oversee mechanical completion, flushing, leak testing, alignment, and rotating equipment readiness
• Develop and manage commissioning schedules, ensuring integration with wider CSU milestones
• Supervise vendor activities, SAT, and performance verification of mechanical equipment packages
• Coordinate with construction teams for punch closure and system turnover
• Ensure compliance with site safety standards, PSSR protocols, and quality systems
• Deliver structured reporting, tracking progress against project KPIs
• Support workforce training and readiness for mechanical system operations

Ideal Candidate

• 15+ years of commissioning experience within chemical, petrochemical, or industrial processing sectors
• Strong background in mechanical systems, rotating equipment, and utility readiness
• Proven track record of delivering mechanical commissioning packages on capital projects
• Fluent or strong working knowledge of German (essential for site coordination and safety protocols)
• Ability to manage vendor interfaces and drive completion in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
• Proficient in commissioning databases, turnover systems, and digital reporting tools
