Agilent Technologies is seeking a passionate and innovative Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineer (m/f/d) to join our dynamic automation team in Waldbronn. You will play a key role in the design, development, validation, and maintenance of automation systems that support the production of our world-class Liquid Chromatography instruments.
This role emphasizes mechanical design excellence , project management , and cross-functional collaboration —both internally and with external automation suppliers. You will help shape the future of our production capabilities by driving creative, robust, and CE-compliant automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical systems and components for production automation, with a strong focus on Design for Automation principles.
- Lead and manage automation projects from concept through implementation, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including electrical, software, manufacturing engineers, and R&D.
- Interface with external automation suppliers, ensuring technical alignment and successful integration of third-party systems.
- Ensure all designs comply with European CE norms and relevant safety standards.
- Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and validation activities to create reliable automations and influence product design for better automation.
- Support the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of automation systems on the production floor.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability, maintainability, and performance.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in mechanical design for automation systems, ideally in a production or manufacturing environment or in product design.
- Strong knowledge of CAD tools (e.g., Siemens NX or similar).
- Experience with project management methodologies and tools.
- Familiarity with CE marking, Machinery Directive, and other relevant European standards.
- Demonstrated ability to work creatively and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills in German and English.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience in designing for modularity and scalability in automation.
- Knowledge of pneumatics, actuators, sensors, and motion control systems.
- Exposure to PLC integration and control systems.
- Experience working with external automation vendors or system integrators.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
