The Galileo Competence Centre is dedicated to the further development of the European satellite navigation system Galileo. Together with the scientific institutes and facilities of the German Aerospace Centre (DLR), it analyses the performance of Galileo and other existing systems, develops, tests and validates new ideas and promising technologies, and brings them to maturity in close cooperation with industry.

Your tasks

Contributing to projects in the areas of fundamentals, utilisation and technical implementation for the various Galileo signals and services
Developing hardware and software, as well as corresponding concepts for integration and testing, for example for mobile measuring equipment for GNSS signals
Analyzing and replacing existing components or assemblies with those based on newer technologies, such as SDR or optical components
Development of new architectures for the implementation of new hardware and/or software
Implementation of data protocols for digital signal processing, taking into account various standards, e.g. Galileo software standards
Verification and validation of procured or created hardware or software using models according to project requirements
Preparation of project proposals for third-party funding acquisition

Your profile

Completed scientific university degree (Master's/Diploma) in natural sciences, e.g. geomatics, geodesy or other courses relevant to the position with specialisation in navigation
Experience in the field of GNSS systems and technologies (PNT – Position, Navigation & Timing) and synchronous CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access)
Knowledge of the various Galileo services and their structure
Knowledge of navigation algorithms and integrity concepts (ARAIM, SBAS)
Knowledge of hardware for GNSS signal generation and transmission as well as suitable measurement methods
Knowledge of alternative navigation options, e.g. based on inertial sensor technology or the Earth's gravitational field
Experience in the analysis of signal disturbances due to linear and non-linear effects, interference, multipath propagation, etc.

Remuneration is up to the German TVöD 13 depending on qualifications and assigned tasks.
