Network Software Engineer (m/w/d) – Secure & Scalable UAV Communication Systems

Job Responsibilities

  1. Develop and optimize high-performance network applications for UAV communication, swarm coordination, and real-time data exchange.
  2. Implement network automation, software-defined networking (SDN), and cloud-based networking solutions.
  3. Design and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant, and secure network services for UAV and defense systems.
  4. Work with network APIs, gRPC, REST, Netconf, and SDN controllers to improve UAV fleet communication.
  5. Implement traffic monitoring, routing optimizations, and load balancing strategies for high-bandwidth, real-time operations.
  6. Develop network security solutions, including firewall automation, VPN integration, and end-to-end encryption.
  7. Collaborate with AI, embedded, and cybersecurity teams to ensure network resilience against cyber threats.
  8. Optimize edge networking for UAVs, integrating low-latency communication protocols (MAVLink, DDS, ZeroMQ, MQTT).

Your Profile

  1. 3+ years experience in network software development, distributed systems, or cloud networking.
  2. Strong expertise in network programming with Python, Go, C++, or Rust.
  3. Experience with networking frameworks & APIs (gRPC, REST, Netconf, SNMP, WebSockets).
  4. Knowledge of containerized networking (Kubernetes, Docker, Istio, Linkerd).
  5. Experience with cloud and edge networking (AWS VPC, SDN, SD-WAN, VPNs, NFV).
  6. Familiarity with network security, firewall automation, encryption (TLS, IPsec, Zero Trust Architecture).

Nice to Have

  1. Experience in UAV swarm networking, real-time telemetry, and defense communication protocols.
  2. Knowledge of low-latency wireless communication (5G, LoRa, Mesh Networks, FANET, MANET).
  3. Background in AI-driven network optimization and automated network anomaly detection.
