Join our mission as the Operational Director in advanced manufacturing. The TUM Venture Labs are a non‑profit initiative of the Technical University of Munich and UnternehmerTUM, Europe’s leading center for innovation and business creation.

About the role

You will strategically establish and operationally manage the Advanced Manufacturing & Industrialization area. You will support technology‑driven founding teams from the idea stage to market readiness. You will develop formats that strengthen the growth of our start‑ups, such as mentoring programmes or prototyping workshops. You will work closely with research institutions, industry partners, funding organisations, and open new fields of cooperation. You will connect with investors, mentors, and experts to expand our network. You will identify technology trends and discover new growth opportunities. You will work across domains in line with our “One Venture Lab” philosophy.

Responsibilities

Strategically establish and operationally manage the Advanced Manufacturing & Industrialization area.
Support technology‑driven founding teams from the idea stage to market readiness.
Develop formats that strengthen the growth of our start‑ups.
Work closely with research institutions, industry partners, and funding organisations.
Connect with investors, mentors, and experts to expand our network.
Identify technology trends and discover new growth opportunities.
Collaborate across domains in line with the “One Venture Lab” philosophy.

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable field; a PhD is a plus.
Industry experience in manufacturing, automation, or production planning.
Experience in startup and innovation environments with leadership responsibility.
Commitment of at least 30 hours per week to the mission.
Entrepreneurial mindset and a drive to bring technologies to life.
Strong networking skills and the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully.
Structured work style, responsible, goal‑oriented, and determined.
Excellent organisational skills, agile project management, and team leadership.
Fluent in German and English.
A doer who gets things moving and persists until results become visible.
