Overview

We are offering a doctoral position focused on innovation ecosystems, circular economy and sustainability transformation. The successful candidate will develop and apply modeling approaches and empirical analyses, contribute to publications and conferences, and support supervision of student seminar papers and theses.

Responsibilities

• Analyze market dynamics in the context of innovation ecosystems and diffusion theory.
• Systematically integrate concepts from institutional, behavioral, and resource economics.
• Identify and parameterize innovative and circular industrial processes as a central component of the sustainability transformation.
• Identify possible usage profiles for different types of (bio-based) feedstocks including their substitution potential.
• Validate and scale results; assess sustainability of transformation scenarios and European/global trade potentials.
• Develop and implement modeling approaches and perform empirical analyses.
• Publish and present research results in relevant journals and at international conferences.
• Supervise student seminar papers and theses.

Your Profile

• Completed studies in economics, (business) engineering, natural sciences, or data science with very good results.
• Knowledge in environmental economics, resource economics, economic theory, evolutionary economics or innovation economics is an asset.
• Enthusiasm for complex interrelationships in economic and resource systems; strong analytical and conceptual skills.
• Strong understanding of sustainable development concepts (e.g., circular economy, bioeconomy) and current innovations in this area.
• Profound knowledge in quantitative data analysis.
• High motivation and commitment; able to work independently and in a team.
• Very good command of English and strong communication skills.
