Podcast Editor – Contract

Description
This role is ideal for an experienced podcast editor who can transform lengthy recordings into engaging, polished episodes. The primary responsibility is to edit a 2-3 hour raw audio file into a concise 1-1.5 hour podcast, ensuring high audio quality and a seamless listening experience. The editor will be responsible for removing unnecessary content, enhancing sound clarity, and integrating intro music. Timeliness is crucial, as the workflow requires a quick turnaround: recordings occur on Wednesday afternoons (BST), with the final cut due by Thursday evening for review and a Friday midday release. The initial assignment is for an episode recorded on October 1st, with the potential for ongoing collaboration on future projects if the partnership is successful.

Deliverables

• Edit a 2-3 hour podcast recording down to a 1-1.5 hour finished episode
• Remove filler, tangents, and unnecessary content to maintain listener engagement
• Polish and enhance audio quality, including noise reduction and level balancing
• Add provided intro music and ensure smooth transitions
• Deliver the final cut by Thursday evening BST for review
• Be available for quick feedback and minor revisions before Friday midday release
• Maintain clear communication regarding progress and any issues
• Meet all deadlines for the initial and any subsequent episodes

Requirements

• Proven experience editing long-form podcasts or audio content
• Proficiency with professional audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Audacity, Pro Tools, or similar)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and remove unnecessary content
• Excellent audio engineering skills, including noise reduction and mastering
• Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines
• Reliable internet connection and access to required editing tools
• Availability to work within the specified BST schedule
• Strong communication skills for feedback and collaboration
