Work at the intersection of analytics and biologics innovation! We’re seeking an ambitious Post Doc to join our Pharmaceutical Development Unit in Biberach and explore the potential of Raman spectroscopy as a novel analytical tool in formulation development of biologics. Your work will help shape the future of biologics formulation by generating high‑impact data and insights from cutting‑edge analytical techniques.

This position has a hybrid setup with approximately 3–4 days per week on site. The position duration is limited to 2 years. The role is open to qualified candidates beyond those who have just completed their doctorate.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Lead and execute an innovative project focused on implementing Raman spectroscopy as a high‑throughput tool in biologics formulation development, managing timelines, goals, and budget.
• Prepare samples, conduct Raman measurements, and evaluate data to assess the suitability of this technology for characterizing biologic drug formulations.
• Develop and optimize high‑throughput measurement and evaluation routines, integrating chemometric methods for raw data processing and model building.
• Compare Raman spectroscopy results with conventional analytical techniques and explore their potential for advanced kinetic modeling.
• Ensure delivery of high‑quality data, presentations, and reports to internal and external stakeholders.
• Serve as a key contact for cross‑functional interfaces such as Downstream and Analytical Development, ensuring excellent communication with project teams, line management, and external partners or academic collaborators.

Requirements

• PhD in biotechnology, biochemistry, process engineering, data science, pharmaceutical sciences, analytical chemistry, biophysics, bioinformatics, or a related discipline.
• Hands‑on experience with spectroscopic techniques, ideally Raman spectroscopy, and their application in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical development.
• Solid understanding of protein structure–property relationships and analytical protein characterization.
• Strong skills in data analysis and scientific computing; experience with Python, R, chemometrics, and machine learning is a plus.
• Independently managing scientific projects and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Excellent communication and technical writing skills in English; German is a plus.
