Postdoctoral Researcher positions (Statistical Physics and Active Matter)

We invite highly motivated researchers to join the *Department of Living Matter Physics (LMP)* at the *Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization (MPI-DS)*, Göttingen, Germany. The LMP department is an international, interdisciplinary research environment focused on theoretical and experimental studies of living systems from a physical perspective.

Responsibilities

• Engage in theoretical and computational research in nonequilibrium statistical physics and active matter.
• Develop and implement advanced simulation techniques and analytical methods to study the dynamics of living systems.
• Collaborate with a diverse group of researchers, students, and visitors on interdisciplinary projects.
• Publish original research findings in high‑impact scientific journals and present at international conferences.

Qualifications

• A PhD/DPhil in theoretical physics, applied mathematics, or a related discipline from a recognized university.
• Prior experience in nonequilibrium statistical physics and a strong interest in active matter physics.
• Ability and desire to work in an international team on interdisciplinary research topics.
• Good command of English; German is an asset but not required.

Offer

The postdoctoral appointment is for two years, with a flexible start date. Salary is in accordance with the German state public service salary scale (E13 TVöD‑Bund) and the corresponding social benefits. Working hours are full time.
