Product Assurance Engineer – PULSE Ref. No. 81715

We are looking for world-class talents to work as System Software Engineers who are ready to tackle challenging projects that will ultimately support our client ESA/ESOC with PULSE – MCS-CC AND EGS-CC, in Darmstadt, Germany.

PULSE is focused on building an ESA Mission Control System for operations, based on EGS-CC and a set of ESA-developed components that are suitable for the operational needs of ESA and external end users.

The PULSE project ensures the long-term availability of resources required for bringing EGS-CC into operations.

As a Product Assurance Engineer, your tasks will typically include, but are not limited to:

• Ensure traceability between User Requirements Descriptions and EGS-CC requirements, level test, MCS-CC components.
• Establish User Requirements for EGS-CC.
• Run system test scenarios for Pulse UI.
• Set automatic regression tests and system validation scenarios.
• Map URD requirements to system features.
• Provide unit tests and automate the generation of requirements coverage from system test.
• Perform integration testing for EGS-CC components which are lacking sufficient description.
• Establish PA/QA procedures.
• Complete the User Manual for the backend and UI part.
• Collect end-users feedback on the User Manual.
• Consolidate and maintain the EGS-CC requirement baseline with complete traceability.
• Improve test coverage, validate operational scenarios, and ensure high code quality.
• Create, document, and execute formal test cases across component, facility, and system level.
• Perform software debugging, anomaly analysis, profiling, and resolution.
• Plan and execute stress testing and benchmarking for performance validation.
• Apply structured verification strategies in line with ECSS/CCSDS standards.
• Conduct testing using automated tools such as Selenium.
• Use tools like DOORS or Jira for requirements and verification management.
• Monitor software performance and support quality assurance in operational environments.

Applicants shall have a university degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or similar and the following skills:

• Requirements and verification management.
• Formal testing at component, facility and system level.
• Creation of suitable test cases, documentation and their execution.
• Experience in benchmarking and stress testing.
• Proven ability in integration and verification of complex systems.
• Software anomalies analysis, debugging, profiling, fixing and processing.
• Experience in operational environments under strict change control.
• CCSDS and ECSS standards.
• Configuration control.
• Software maintenance, performance monitoring.

• Mission control functions.
• Satellite communications (packet TM/TC, PUS, SLE protocol).
• Ground Station monitoring and control.

• Automated testing using Selenium.
• Requirements and verification management using DOORS or Jira.
• Code Quality checks using SonarQube.
• Frameworks: Selenium.
• Operating systems: UNIX/Linux and Windows.
• Object-oriented software design and maintenance, including the use of UML/SysML-based tools for supporting/documenting the design, at least at the architectural level. (para documentación y trazabilidad, aunque también aplica a software)
