Overview

The professorship in Economics (W2, tenured) is part of the Cluster of Excellence ECONtribute: Markets & Public Policy, jointly run by the Universities of Cologne and Bonn and funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The Cluster provides a dynamic, collaborative and international research environment for understanding market functioning and failures, as well as public policy responses, using innovative research approaches. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the overall research agendas of the Cluster and the WiSo-Faculty and engage in the management of the Cluster and the academic administration of the WiSo-Faculty. The professorship will be based in the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Cologne and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to excellence in teaching in the WiSo-Faculty's programmes.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the research agendas of the ECONtribute Cluster and the WiSo-Faculty.
  • Engage in the management of the Cluster and the academic administration of the WiSo-Faculty.
  • Contribute to teaching excellence across WiSo-Faculty programmes.

Your profile

  • Outstanding scholars from all fields in economics (e.g., applied, quantitative, public, or international economics).
  • A track record of outstanding publications in economics and a strong commitment to research excellence.
  • Research profile that fits the ECONtribute Cluster of Excellence.
  • Ideally demonstrated ability to offer high-quality teaching in economics at different levels.

Our offer

  • Formal requirements are detailed in Section 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (HG NRW).
  • A teaching load of nine semester hours per week (i.e., two hours per week is one 90-minute course per semester).
