Overview

Professorship (W2) of Differential Psychology in School Contexts (6 years/tenure track) commencing as soon as possible. The position is integrated into the Chair of Personality and Educational Psychology at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) in Munich, Germany.

LMU Munich seeks a candidate with expertise in differential and personality psychology in school-related contexts, capable of contributing to teaching and research within the Department of Psychology and Educational Sciences and to the cross-faculty research initiatives. The appointment is aimed at strengthening LMU’s research focus on “Personalized Diagnostics and Interventions” and contributing to LMU’s broader academic and professional community.

The initial appointment is for six years with the potential to convert to a permanent position after a minimum of three years, contingent on evaluation and legal conditions. Responsibilities

  • Teach primarily in teacher training programs, especially school psychology, with possible teaching in the B.Sc. Psychology program and other master’s programs in psychology.
  • Contribute pedagogical-psychological content to courses in school psychology; grade state examinations (Staatsexamina; written in German) in educational psychology and school psychology.
  • Engage in high-quality research with a strong record of peer-reviewed publications in international journals; promote transparent and reproducible research (e.g., open data, open materials, preregistrations).
  • Develop and manage third‑party funded research projects when applicable; contribute to the development of school psychology at LMU within the Bavarian system (LPO I).
  • Collaborate with the research initiatives and contribute to the department’s focus on personalized diagnostics and interventions.

Qualifications

  • Strong record of peer‑reviewed publications in international journals; relevant teaching experience in school and/or educational psychology.
  • Expertise in differential psychology and personality psychology in school contexts; ability to analyze inter- and intra-individual differences among students or teachers; experience with personalized interventions in educational settings and personality development in school-age populations.
  • Experience and competencies in advanced methodological and statistical approaches and technologies (e.g., experience sampling, virtual/mixed/extended reality, machine learning, artificial intelligence) are desirable.
  • Ability to contribute to open science practices (open data, open materials, preregistration) and willingness to pursue reproducible research.
  • Eligibility prerequisites include university degree and doctoral degree (or comparable qualification); potential for an outstanding academic career.
