We are looking for a Project Management & Scheduler to work at EUMETSAT’s premises in Darmstadt, Germany.

The role will primarily support the Technical and Scientific Support Department (TSS), which provides support to operations of existing satellite systems, under the responsibility of the Operations and Services to Users Department (OPS) and to the development of new programmes, under the responsibility of the Programme Development Department (PRD).

The European Organisation for the Exploration of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) is a political organisation comprising of 30 European member states. EUMETSAT operates satellites to monitor weather, climate, and the changing environment. They are responsible for helping to isolate potentially dangerous weather conditions that could affect air travel, farming and other key service industries.

The scope of work will include:

• Participating in the planning and scheduling of all TSS departmental activities and projects under TSS responsibility, including the contribution to development programmes.
• Providing TSS contributions to the planning of activities and projects to the responsible Operations and Programme planners.
• Supporting the planning of releases and services done by the responsible technical teams.
• Taking part in the planning and scheduling of selected OPS departmental activities and projects under OPS responsibility, including the contribution to development programmes.
• Supporting the consolidation of the planning of activities and projects contributing to the monthly Operations Planning with the responsible Operations planners.
• Helping the Planning and Scheduling of the TSS contribution to the EUMETSAT Space and Ground Operations.

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

• University Degree or equivalent in Management or Engineering.
• At least 5 years proven experience in Project Management and Scheduling.
• Project management (risk, actions, planning, reporting) – PMP certification preferred.
• System/software development life cycle and methodologies.
• Project planning and control in large or multi-project environments.
• Good understanding of QA processes; experience applying them in projects.
• Strong MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Able to gather input and summarize complex information clearly.
• Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
• Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:

• ITIL knowledge is a plus.
• Technical Background:
  • Experience in space/ground systems or operations.
  • Familiarity with ECSS or similar project frameworks.
