Quality Engineer – Alpha Project
As a Quality Engineer , you will lead the development and implementation of quality assurance processes for the Alpha project – Proxima Fusion’s first integrated stellarator prototype. This role is critical to ensuring that our large, high‑precision components meet stringent specifications for geometry, accuracy, and tolerance. Your work will directly enable rapid, first‑time assembly of components and machines, setting the standard for quality and precision across our hardware development.
What You Will Do
- Define, implement, and oversee quality assurance processes throughout the manufacturing and assembly of large, high‑precision components.
- Develop and execute inspection and testing plans focusing on geometrical accuracy, tolerance analysis, and large‑part measurement.
- Support design and manufacturing teams in defining achievable and meaningful tolerances, balancing performance, manufacturability, and cost.
- Perform and document geometrical measurements of critical components using advanced techniques and tools (CMMs, laser trackers, photogrammetry).
- Analyze measurement data, identify deviations, and lead root‑cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Build and maintain quality documentation, including inspection reports, control plans, and non‑conformance records.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure adherence to quality standards and continuously improve processes and outcomes.
Who You Are
- Strong experience in quality assurance, precision measurement, and tolerance analysis – ideally on large, complex components in aerospace, energy, or advanced manufacturing.
- Deep understanding of GD&T, metrology principles, and statistical analysis of measurement data.
- Hands‑on experience with advanced measurement equipment and techniques: CMMs, laser trackers, optical scanning systems, surface and form measurement tools.
- Familiarity with quality standards and best practices (ISO 9001, AS9100, Six Sigma) and experience preparing quality documentation.
- Strong analytical and communication skills – able to clearly convey findings and influence design and manufacturing decisions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, interdisciplinary environment.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Interview Process
- Recruiter Interview (30–60 min)
- Technical Screening (30 min)
- Technical Panel (3×60 min)
- CEO call (30 min)
We Value Diversity
We don’t look at how you identify, what you look like, or who you choose to worship. We care about what you can bring to the table. Diversity of thought and experience leads to better ideas, stronger execution, and a more resilient team.
