Quantitative Software Engineer - Investment Platform
finccam Munich
Stellenbeschreibung:
    Job Description

Please provide your full application documents via email. Our requirements are listed at the bottom of this job posting.

    Who we are
finccam delivers holistic investment solutions in simplicity and perfection. Our core competencies lie in the overall portfolio construction and the management of risk premia strategies as well as risk management strategies. These services are enabled by finccam central – our proprietary cloud-based investment platform.
Our greatest asset is our team: we combine the excellence of results with the motto of working among friends. In order to achieve outstanding results, we focus on the working atmosphere, the team, and individual advancement.

    Your contribution
    • You design, implement, and maintain software infrastructure for quantitative trading and financial research, ensuring highest reliability and robustness.
    • You focus on our core computation engine, which comprises all our financial business logic, from algorithmic investment strategies to risk analytics.
    • You collaborate closely with portfolio managers and researchers. Your work enables them to contribute their deep financial expertise to our platform.
    • You manage trading operations of funds and clients, including the technical onboarding of new mandates and data providers, as well as ad-hoc internal first-level support to portfolio management.
    • You take ownership of various services and processes and are responsible for the full development lifecycle from ideation to delivery and maintenance. You thereby act as a generalist, specializing in multiple focus areas across our platform.
    • You grow into an interface role between software engineering and portfolio management and act as your own project manager. We remove the middle-man in between teams and processes as much as possible.
    • You simplify, improve, and automate repeated tasks and processes, ensuring everyone can contribute their most creative and meaningful work.

Please note: This is not a research/portfolio management role. You are going to work on the software platform that other team members use to develop quantitative strategies, analytics, etc.

    About you
    • You are curious and highly motivated to deeply understand, improve, design, and automate asset management business processes and workflows. Process engineering and project management is part of a software engineer's role.
    • You have the desire to play a key role in growing finccam on strong technological feet and to shape our future with your ideas. We are looking for an ambitious and self-starting individual who blossoms in turning our vision of technology-driven asset management into reality.
    • You can organize yourself efficiently, learn new things quickly, communicate clearly to tech and non-tech audiences, and thrive under minimal supervision. Every finccam team member is a manager of one.
    • You have already worked in larger software projects, e.g., through internships, freelance projects, within a study program, or professional work experience.
    • Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (like R, Python, Go, Rust, C++, C#, Java, Kotlin, or a comparable language). You are open to learn and work with R for a substantial fraction of your time. Our core computation engine is written in R.
    • You write reliable, efficient, and maintainable code that handles edge cases and errors gracefully, minimizes unnecessary complexity, and scales with the realities of database and system performance.
    • You excelled academically in a quantitative degree program (Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field).
    • Professional work experience and expertise in finance are a plus, but not a requirement. The team will support you in gaining the relevant domain knowledge on the job.
    • You are business fluent in English or German.

    What we offer
    • A modern tech stack, utilizing Python, R, C#, and Azure cloud technologies.
    • Work from home or the office, depending on your needs and responsibilities. We follow a hybrid work model: All employees live in Munich and enjoy meeting and collaborating in the office regularly, without strict rules. Most of us are on-site multiple days per week.
    • An experienced team with dynamic colleagues who love to learn, share, and help you grow into a leading engineering role.
    • Our in-depth onboarding will get you started quickly. You will gain an overview over all services within our platform, get to know all our financial products, and grasp the fundamentals of the required finance knowledge.
    • The best idea wins. It's what you say that counts, not who says it.
    • Attractive compensation at a startup that was profitable from day one.

    You are interested
Please send your application to [email protected]: cover letter, CV, university diploma and transcripts, references from previous employers, certificates, project description (see below).
Your project description should describe a software/system/design you are most proud of and worked on from start to finish. Please include your role, the motivation, technical details, challenges, duration, and lessons learned.

We are looking forward to meeting you!
