For our Unit Life/Health Global Underwriting & R&D we are seeking to appoint aResearch Actuary (d/f/m) based in our Cologne office starting as soon as possible.

Your Role

• Shape and uphold Gen Re’s global underwriting philosophy, ensuring it reflects the latest developments in both medical and non-medical risk assessment.
• Conduct statistical analyses of large data sets to support and enhance risk assessment processes.
• Develop tools to optimize team workflows and explore new technical opportunities, such as leveraging artificial intelligence.
• Drive the evolution of underwriting tools in response to increasing digitalization and automation across the application and underwriting lifecycle.
• Continuously monitor emerging trends – such as medical advancements, regulatory shifts, and technological innovations – and assess their implications for risk selection.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with actuaries, physicians, legal experts, IT professionals, and underwriters to deliver integrated solutions.

Your Profile

• University degree, ideally in mathematics, physics, (bio)statistics, or data science.
• Prior medical knowledge or a strong willingness and interest in acquiring such knowledge.
• You thrive in teamwork and enjoy contributing your own ideas to joint projects.
• You are enthusiastic about new technologies and digital trends, with a structured and analytical approach to work.
• Strong proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
• Fluency in English is required; knowledge of another language, particularly German, is an advantage.
