Scope of Project
The Cluster of Excellence “Climate, Climatic Change and Society” investigates climate dynamics, climate‑related social dynamics, and the interactions between the two. We collaborate with partners such as the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology, the Helmholtz Centre Hereon, and the German Climate Computing Centre.
Responsibilities
- Academic services related to the project “Scale interaction in a warming Arctic.”
- Conduct independent research and further academic qualifications.
- Pursue doctoral studies outside of working duties.
- Quantify long‑term global impacts of interactions between small‑scale surface heterogeneity and weather extremes in the Arctic, and assess responses of permafrost and sea ice to global warming.
Profile
- University degree in a relevant field.
- MSc in physical earth‑system science, physics or an adjacent field, and knowledge of a modern computer language is mandatory.
- Knowledge of dynamical systems, permafrost and sea‑ice physics, and experience in the analysis of large‑scale earth system model output and remote‑sensing data are desirable.
