Safety Engineer - Loitering Systems (all genders) role at STARK.

This provides our operators with a decisive edge in highly contested environments. 
Permanent employee, Full-time. Location: Munich. 
Responsibilities 
- Product & System Safety Assurance 
 - System Safety Program: Plan, establish, and execute the System Safety Program (SSP) in accordance with MIL-STD-882E and relevant NATO standards (e.g., AOP-52) or equivalent. 
 - Safety Analysis: Conduct and manage formal safety analyses, including PHA, SSHA, SHA, O&SHA, and FMEA/FMEDA for hardware and software. 
 - Functional Safety: Implement and verify functional safety requirements for electrical, electronic, and programmable electronic systems, following IEC 61508 adapted for defense applications. 
 - Compliance & Certification: Prepare and manage safety-related documentation (Safety Cases, SAR, Safety Justifications) for domestic and NATO customer acceptance and S3 certification. 
 - Civil/Aviation Interface: Maintain awareness of civil aviation safety standards (EASA) related to UAS and regulatory aspects in controlled airspace. 
 - Safety Management & Compliance 
 - Requirements Management: Translate customer and statutory safety requirements into verifiable system and subsystem requirements. 
 - Safety Reviews: Participate in design reviews, test readiness reviews, and acceptance boards as the safety SME. 
 - Occupational Health & Safety (OHS): Support the company’s OHS program, ensuring compliance with German ASiG and related regulations for handling ordnance and operating complex machinery. 
 - Continuous Improvement: Define and implement internal safety processes, tools, and best practices to improve safety culture and management systems. 
  
Qualifications 
- 3–5 years of professional experience in System Safety, Functional Safety, or Product Safety, preferably in defense, aerospace, or complex critical systems. 
 - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Safety Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field. 
 - Knowledge of MIL-STD-882, AOP-50/AOP-52 series, and IEC 61508. 
 - High proficiency (C1/C2) in English and German (written and spoken). 
 - Knowledge of German defense and ordnance safety regulations, awareness of EASA safety standards relevant to UAV/munition systems. 
 - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and teamwork abilities in interdisciplinary, multi-national teams. 
 - Willingness to undergo necessary security clearance checks (ZÜP).
