Sales Engineer

Overview

The Sales Engineer (SE) will be the technical bridge between our Sales Representatives and their pre‑sales customers. The SE will own the prime technical relationship with pre‑sales customers, helping close business by proactively managing and delivering technical information to customers both onsite, online, and via telephone.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with customers to understand their challenges and present tailored solutions that address complex technical needs.
  • Lead Proof‑of‑Concept (PoC) engagements, helping customers plan and successfully implement Trend Micro solutions.
  • Provide expert guidance on Trend Micro products in a pre‑sales context while working in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment.
  • Build and maintain strong technical relationships with customers and prospects, working closely with internal Sales, Channel, and Partner teams.
  • Design and support cloud and security architectures, offering innovative solutions to customer challenges.
  • Partner with technology vendors and customers to drive strategic alliances and strengthen partnerships.
  • Share best practices with the Sales Engineering team to enhance overall efficiency and technical expertise.
  • Proactively manage technical relationships with customers and prospects while collaborating with internal Sales, Marketing and Partner teams as needed.
  • Contribute to the SE Readiness Program and develop subject‑matter expertise in assigned products and solutions.
  • Travel regionally (approximately 30‑35%) for customer presentations, marketing and user group events, and urgent on‑site customer support.

Qualifications

  • Drive, enthusiasm, strong work ethic & a desire to learn and develop a career within cyber security.
  • Early‑career professionals with experience in Cyber Security (architect, developer, network or systems engineer) who are interested in growing in Sales Engineering.
  • Experienced Sales Engineers or Security Specialists with:
    • 3+ years SE experience and/or professional services experience.
    • 3+ years’ experience in computer software or systems including security products (firewalls, antivirus, intrusion detection, content security).
    • Experience working with multi‑cloud environments such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
    • 2+ years SOC or IR experience (advantage).

Desired Experience & Qualifications

  • Pre‑Sales experience with value‑based selling, consultative selling, and solution architecture.
  • ITIL v3 or later certification (preferred).
  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as CEH, CompTIA Security+, or CISSP (preferred, but not a must).
  • Strong understanding of cloud architectures, with AWS certifications being a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of security incidents, network administration, and security solution management (endpoint/server protection, web/email filtering, IPS).
  • Experience with scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Strong time‑management skills and ability to work independently.
  • Fast learner with a proactive approach to new tools and technologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, customer service, and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage diverse clients effectively.
