Data Processing Engineer – Copernicus Missions (CIMR / CRISTAL & MicroCarb) - WGS Workgroup Solutions

We are looking for talented Satellite Data Processing Engineers to support our customer in the development and operation of Copernicus missions CIMR , CRISTAL , and MicroCarb .

You will contribute to the Payload Data Processing (PDP) systems, from defining requirements and integrating processors to testing, validation, and maintenance in an operational Earth Observation environment.

Two complementary roles are available:

• CIMR/CRISTAL (Development Phase): focus on integration, testing, and validation.
• MicroCarb (Operational Phase): focus on maintenance, anomaly investigation, and performance verification.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, and validate data-processing software and tools.
• Support requirements definition, documentation, and system reviews.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for processor delivery and testing.
• Participate in anomaly investigations and system performance analysis.
• Prepare and execute integration and verification procedures.
• Collaborate with EUMETSAT system, science, and data teams in a dynamic, international environment.

Qualifications

• A master’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Remote Sensing, or a related field or the equivalent work experience.
• At least 3 years’ experience in EO data-processing systems, software integration, or ground-segment engineering.
• Experience with change management processes and requirements management experience using DOORS .
• Extensive experience with C++ in Linux-based environments, including profiling, debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Proven experience in data-processing systems engineering and operational EO data handling.
• Strong background in software integration, testing, validation and verification (VCDs, IV&V plans, test procedures).
• Scripting and high-level languages: bash, shell, Python, Perl, Java .
• Knowledge of software packaging/building (make, CMake, RPM) and version control (git, GitLab, SVN).
• Familiarity with database systems and application programming.
• Competence in automated testing , unit test suites , and CI/CD workflows .
• Experience in data analytics for satellite EO products is an advantage.
• Willingness to work within a multidisciplinary context in cooperation with other teams. The ability to maintain a system overview is essential. Be able to plan your work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks.
• Write accurate and consistent technical documentation.
• Fluent in English (communication and writing skills).
