Senior Accountant

Position Summary This position is responsible for supporting the daily operations and maintenance of the general ledger system, banking, cash applications, inter-company client invoicing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to: Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structureProvide support to ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closeResponsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the General Ledger including, but not limited to: entering journal entries, posting cash, and account reconciliationsEnsure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information and inter-company reporting/trackingAssist the Controller with daily banking requirementsEnsure the accurate and timely processing of payables and collection of receivablesCollaborate with others in Finance to support overall department goals and objectivesResponds to inquiries from the VP Finance and Controller regarding financial results, special reporting requests and ad hoc analysesAssist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow and internal controls Qualifications Minimum Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related business field Other Required A minimum of 5 years prior experience in the general ledger, financial reporting, payroll and benefits, taxes, statutory filing requirements, and all areas of the accounting cycleExperience with any Eastern European financial & tax requirements Preferred CPA or equivalent qualificationExperience in the CRO industryUSGAAP knowledge Skills Strong Accounting skillsSolid IT skills (especially MS Excel) Competencies Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliations, strong PC skills and able to thrive in a multi-tasking environmentHigh energy and enthusiasm with a strong commitment to exceeding expectationsFlexibility and willing to work on multiple assignments of varying tasks with personnel throughout the organizationAbility to learn quickly.
