Locations: Munich & Stuttgart (with ~60% travel to project and partner sites)

Role Overview

As a Senior Automation Engineer on our Industrial Automation team, you'll play a central role in designing, integrating, and optimizing robotic and automation systems. You will collaborate across mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines—ensuring seamless interaction between hardware, AI-enabled control, and industrial processes.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance: Lead safety assessments (CE, machine directives), conduct FMEAs, and embed risk mitigation in system designs.
Integration & Expertise: Architect, develop, and evaluate automation systems across their lifecycle—balancing performance, reliability, and safety.
Feasibility & Simulation: Conduct feasibility studies and simulate scenarios to validate system design under diverse real-world conditions.
Project Coordination: Align system architecture with customer goals, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and drive projects to completion on time and within budget.

Required Profile

Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field
5+ years in industrial automation, robotics, machinery, or automotive engineering
Proficient in automation technologies—PLCs, robotic systems, sensors, and communication protocols (e.g. Ethernet/IP, CAN, OPC-UA)
Experience integrating hardware and AI-led software solutions
Strong familiarity with safety standards, FMEAs, and system-level troubleshooting
Leadership skills—able to guide technical teams and uphold project schedules
Hands-on mentality, excellent communication skills, and a proactive, team-focused approach
