Who You Are

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our Verve Marketplace Data Science team. You will work across data science, backend engineering and MLOps deploying models, optimizing real-time performance and managing large-scale data pipelines. This hands-on role covers the full lifecycle from design and deployment to monitoring and optimization with a direct impact on revenue and product performance.

What You Will Do

• Design, implement and maintain high-performance backend systems for AI-powered products
• Deploy, integrate and optimize machine learning models into production by building gRPC / RESTful APIs and microservices for consuming model predictions
• Automate model training and deployment with Kubernetes, Helm charts and CI / CD pipelines to streamline the path from development to production
• Build and optimize systems to ensure minimal delay between input and output, often measured in milliseconds
• Design distributed systems to handle large AI workloads and high-throughput inference, balancing latency and throughput as traffic grows
• Develop pipelines and templates for model training, deployment, monitoring and iteration
• Continuously monitor deployed models to ensure they remain safe, secure and performant in live environments
• Manage and serve features through centralized repositories for consistent use in both training and production
• Ensure real-time availability of features for low-latency predictions
• Guide and mentor engineers to strengthen backend development and machine learning expertise
• Act as an MLOps specialist collaborating with product managers, data scientists and other stakeholders to provide actionable recommendations

Job requirements

What You Will Bring

• A strong foundation in software engineering combined with specialized knowledge in machine learning systems is essential.
• 3-5 years of professional software engineering experience with 3 years focused on building and deploying ML systems in production
• High proficiency in Python; experience with compiled languages (Go, Java, Rust or C) for high-performance low-latency backend services
• Hands-on experience with ML libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow and scikit-learn
• Proven ability to build, deploy and maintain scalable backend systems including RESTful APIs and microservices (FastAPI, Flask, gRPC)
• Expertise in MLOps including Docker, Kubernetes, CI / CD (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
• Experience with model serving platforms (NVIDIA Triton, TensorFlow Serving Seldon Core) and optimization techniques such as quantization and pruning
• Practical experience with feature stores open-source (e.g. Feast) or commercial (e.g. Tecton, SageMaker) for training and real-time inference
• Proficiency in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP or Azure) and related AI / ML services (Amazon SageMaker, Google Vertex AI, Azure Machine Learning)
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Statistics or a related quantitative field
