(Senior) Design Engineer (m/w/d) - Aerospace Composites

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

At Blackwave , we developComposite Overwrapped Pressure Vessels (COPVs) – high-performance pressure systems made from advanced composite materials for the most demanding applications. As aSenior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and optimization of our COPV systems – from the concept phase to industrialization. You combine in-depth technical understanding with a clear sense of efficiency and precision. Together with our interdisciplinary team, you will develop solutions that guarantee maximum performance and safety.

Your responsibilities in detail:

• Develop and build the future: Work on the design and development of our next-generation COPV systems — from first concept to serial production.
• Engineer for performance: Design reliable, efficient, and manufacturable composite structures that meet the highest technical standards.
• Simulate and validate: Use structural analysis, FEM, and testing to ensure strength, precision, and performance under extreme conditions.
• Shape industrial excellence : Collaborate with manufacturing, testing, and quality to translate designs into scalable, production-ready solutions.
• Own the process: Take responsibility for the technical success of projects — from material definition to final validation.

YOUR PROFILE

• Professional background: You have at least 2 years of professional experience as a Design Engineer working with composite structures — combining performance, precision, and manufacturability in your designs.
• Language Pro: English is like your mothertongue, German comes in handy but not a must-have
• You think in systems: You understand how materials, geometry, and process interact — and use that insight to engineer smart, efficient solutions.
• You build with precision: You bring strong CAD and simulation skills (e.g. SolidWorks, CATIA, FEM) and a structured, detail-oriented mindset.
• You live composites: You have hands-on experience with composite materials, design methods, and manufacturing processes.
• You take ownership: You enjoy responsibility, drive your projects forward, and deliver results that meet real-world performance demands.
• You strive for better: You’re driven by curiosity, by improvement, by the pursuit of excellence — and by the desire to push boundaries in composite engineering.
