Stellenbeschreibung:

Overview

Senior Engineer - RISE LPT Component Mechanical Design (m/f/d), remote option. In Advanced Mechanical Design, we create and test innovative solutions for the future of our business. This role contributes to advancements in aircraft component design, focusing on Low-Pressure Turbine (LPT) components for the RISE Open Fan technology demonstrator engine program. It is a stepping stone to GE Aerospace’s technical program leadership or mechanical domain expert career paths. The position offers the flexibility of a fully remote setup or an optional hybrid schedule (office and home).

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the mechanical design of Low-Pressure Turbine components (rotors, airfoils, or structures) for GE Aerospace’s RISE program, specifically in the context of Open Fan turbine technology maturation and ground/flight engine demonstration efforts.
  • Integrate components into larger system designs, collaborating with global and diverse teams from multiple disciplines (e.g., thermal, aero, and systems design).
  • Define preliminary sizing of turbine components and systems. Perform architecture feasibility and design exploration studies to define turbine configurations.
  • Communicate design risks to stakeholders to facilitate collective decision-making.
  • Create innovative solutions to meet broad design objectives for assigned hardware and overall module.
  • Lead and complete design reviews, drawing releases, quality requirements, and assembly analyses.
  • Suggest areas for technology advancements and recommend approaches or programs to achieve them.

Required Qualifications

  • Engineering degree with significant experience in mechanical design of gas turbine components.
  • Proven track record in delivering complex programs and ability to work in cross-functional global teams in multicultural environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to advance technology and generate innovative solutions.
  • Fluency in English.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in the gas turbine or aviation industry, specifically in mechanical design for turbine components such as rotors, airfoils, and structures.
  • Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis, preferably using Ansys.
  • Skills in 2D/3D modeling of mechanical components, preferably in NX/Teamcenter.
  • Experience in life assessments (LCF, HCF, crack propagation, creep).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes and tools.
  • Experience in tolerance stack-ups, releasing drawings, and creating Bills of Material (BoMs).

Benefits

  • GE supports and encourages flexible working arrangements, where possible, with emphasis on work-life balance.
  • Company pension plan, supplemental health insurance, long service awards, invalidity and death insurance, holiday storage and fitness subsidy.
